Iran’s Beiranvand Claims Guinness World Record for Longest Throw

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Alireza Beiranvand entered Guinness World Records for longest throw on Thursday.

The Iran goalkeeper achieved this feat on October 11, 2016, in a 2018 World Cup qualifying match against South Korea.

He threw 61 meters and 26 millimeter in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.

Beiranvand saved a penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo in the match against Portugal in Russia, where the match finished in a 1-1 draw.

The 29-year-old custodian joined Belgian top-flight team Antwerp in July 2020 and then was transferred to Portuguese side Boavista.
