Saeid Eskandarzadeh Takes Gold at World Para Powerlifting

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Saeid Eskandarzadeh snatched a gold medal in the 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships on Saturday.

The Iranian junior powerlifter lifted 150kg in the men’s up to 80kg category to not only secure the gold but set a new Asian junior record.

The World Senior Championships will start on November 28 and will run until December 6.

China topped the medals tally at Nur-Sultan 2019 with seven golds ahead of Iran and Nigeria with three each.

A total of 475 powerlifters from 72 countries are set to compete in Georgia. This represents a 16 per cent growth compared to Nur-Sultan 2019.

Tbilisi 2021 will see 18 Tokyo Paralympic champions in action, five of them from China.
