Esteghlal, Persepolis Share the Spoils: IPL
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Esteghlal and Persepolis football teams played out a goalless draw on Matchweek 8 of the Iran Professional League (IPL) on Saturday.
In a boring game held in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, the popular teams failed to register a single goal in a match that is arguably one of the most exciting derbies in the world.
The match failed to meet the expectations.
Persepolis and Esteghlal are Iran’s representatives in 2021-22 AFC Champions League but they need to strengthen themselves for the prestigious competition.
Furthermore, Gol Gohar, moved top of the table with a 4-2 win over Sepahan in Sirjan. Armin Sohrabian, Mehdi Tikdari (two goals) and Saeid Sadeghi were on target for Gol Gohar and Danial Esmaeilifar scored a brace for Sepahan.
