Saudi Coalition Intensifies Air Strikes against Residential Areas across Yemeni Capital
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Following the Yemeni army’s decisive retaliatory attacks on the UAE’s soil, the Saudi-led coalition has substantially increased its air raids targeting residential neighborhoods across Yemen’s capital city of Sana’a.
Saudi jets began three air attacks against Sana'a International Airport and its vicinity early on Wednesday, Yemen's Arabic-language al-Masirah news network eported, adding that the military aircraft flew a number of flights over the airport for a long period.
The Yemeni media reported that the Saudi-led aggression launched at least 13 raids, amid continuous and intense overflights.
Saudi planes also hit 'Attan village in Sana'a's Bani Matar district.
Furthermore, Saudi jets bombed the Jarban neighborhood in the capital's Sanhan district.
There have been no reports of casualties as of yet.
Meanwhile, in the early hours of Tuesday, at least 20 people were killed in air attacks on Sana'a by Saudi-led coalition warplanes.
Citing neighbors and a medic, the Yemeni media reported that the fighter jets targeted the residence of a high-ranking military official from the popular Ansarullah resistance movement, killing around 14 people, including his wife and son.
The air strikes came after Yemeni military forces launched a drone and missile attack on the UAE’s vital sites on Monday in retaliation for the UAE's support in the Saudi-led war on the impoverished country.
Saudi Arabia, backed by the United States and regional allies, launched the war on Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi back to power and crushing the Ansarullah movement.
The war has left hundreds of thousands of Yemenis dead and displaced millions more. It has also destroyed Yemen’s infrastructure and spread famine and infectious diseases there.
Despite heavily-armed Saudi Arabia’s incessant bombardment of the impoverished country, the Yemeni armed forces and the Popular Committees have grown steadily in strength against the Saudi-led invaders and left Riyadh and its allies bogged down in the country.
