Iran, Qatar Weigh Plans to Ensure Regional Peace

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Qatar talked about mutual cooperation to protect peace and stability in the region.

In a telephone conversation on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani discussed a range of issues.

Exchanging views on the latest regional developments, the two diplomats called for continued consultations between Tehran and Doha to ensure and protect peace and stability at the regional and international levels.

They also stressed the need to strengthen diplomacy and exercise dialogue for resolving various issues.

Amirabdollahian and Al Thani finally talked about the ways to promote the political, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

During a visit to Doha earlier in January, the Iranian foreign minister expressed the country’s readiness for closer interaction with regional countries within the framework of bilateral and multilateral programs.

In a meeting, Amirabdollahian and the emir of Qatar discussed the course of developments in the Vienna talks on the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal and the termination of sanctions on Iran, as well as issues relating to Afghanistan and Yemen.
