Collapse of Israeli Gov’t Sign of Palestinian Nation’s Steadfastness: Hamas Spokesman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas hailed the unraveling of the Israeli regime’s embattled cabinet, saying it shows the occupation regime’s weakness, the Palestinian nation’s steadfastness and the resistance’s power to send the government into disarray.

Hamas’ spokesman Fawzi Barhum made the remarks on Tuesday after recurrent defections from Naftali Bennett’s ruling coalition forced the Israeli prime minister to submit a bill to dissolve Knesset (the Israeli parliament).

“Disintegration of the Zionist regime’s government is a testament to the regime and its internal structure’s brittle and weak quality,” Barhum said.

Bennett came to power last year after four inconclusive elections against his predecessor Benjamin Netanyahu, who is on trial for corruption.

If the bill to dissolve the parliament is approved, Bennett would become the occupying regime’s shortest-serving premier ever, and the regime would inevitably be forced to hold yet another election. Foreign minister Yair Lapid is expected to assume Bennett’s position in a caretaker capacity.

Barhum said “the fall of the Israeli government” was a sign of “our nation’s steadfastness and the resistance’s power to send the government into disarray, break its will, and prevent the realization of its goals.”

Israeli pollsters already predict that the upcoming elections, which are set to take place in October, will not have a clear winner.

Notwithstanding the predictions, Barhum said, whatever be the composition of the regime’s next coalition, it would not change Hamas’ principled stance of choosing to put up resistance against it towards “complete restoration” of the Palestinian nation’s rights.
