Forcing Israel into Truce in 2 Days Great Achievement for Resistance: Iran’s FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran lauded the Palestinian resistance for standing against the Israeli regime’s brute military force and forcing the Zionists to give in to a ceasefire and accept the conditions set by the resistance within only two days.

In a telephone conversation on Monday evening, Hossein Amirabdollahian and head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance movement Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, talked about the victories gained by the resistance axis in response to the recent acts of aggression by the Zionist regime.

The Iranian foreign minister offered his congratulation on the victories of the resistance front in the battle against the Zionist enemy and praised the martyrs of the resistance, adding that the Zionists’ crimes in killing Palestinian women and children is a sign of weakness and desperation of the Israeli regime.

He also thanked Ismail Haniyeh for his stances on maintaining unity among the resistance groups and described such unity as a great victory for the resistance axis.

“The fact that the resistance, once more, managed to stand up against the vast military power of the Zionist enemy and force them into accepting truce and the conditions of the resistance in two days is a great achievement,” Amirabdollahian added, the Foreign Ministry reported.

“The main point is that, in this battle, just a portion of the resistance was pitted against the enemy and this, per se, is a major achievement that revealed the inability and weakness of the Zionists more than ever,” he stated.

For his part, the head of the political bureau of Hamas thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for its support for Palestine, saying the Zionist enemy tried to impose its own equations on the Palestinian people and the resistance in the Gaza Strip, but it faced the heroic resistance of the people of Palestine.

“The recent victory of the resistance front opened a new chapter in the confrontation of the Palestinian resistance with the Zionist regime,” he stressed.

“We are determined, God willing, to continue this jihad until final victory is achieved,” Haniyeh underlined.

He finally sent the warm greetings of the Palestinian people to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian president.

On Friday, the Israeli regime and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad declared a truce, raising hopes of an end to three days of Israeli bombardment in Gaza that has killed at least 44 Palestinians, including 15 children.

While both sides had agreed to halt the fighting, each has warned the other that it would respond with force to any violence.

Israel on Friday launched its heavy bombardment of Gaza, flattening buildings and striking refugee camps across the territory. The Israeli military said it has been targeting members of the Islamic Jihad, including the group’s senior commanders, but according to Palestinian officials, almost half of the 44 people who died have been civilians.

At least 350 Palestinian civilians were also wounded.

Islamic Jihad responded by firing hundreds of rockets into Israel. The Zionist regime’s emergency services said three people in Israel were wounded by shrapnel, while 31 others were lightly hurt.

The fighting was the worst in Gaza since an 11-day war last year that killed at least 250 people in the impoverished coastal enclave and about 13 people in occupied Palestine.
