Iran Raps School Shooting in Russia

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Foreign Ministry of Iran condemned a shooting attack at a school in central Russia that has killed 17 people and wounded 24 others.

In a statement on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani reacted to the Monday’s fatal shooting at a school in Russia, which led to the death and injury of dozens of people, condemning the terrorist action.

He also expressed sympathy with the bereaved families of the victims and with the Russian government and people.

A gunman opened fire in School No. 88 in Izhevsk, a city 960 kilometers (600 miles) east of Moscow in the Udmurtia region, on Monday, killing 17 people and wounding 24 others before shooting himself dead.

Russia’s Investigative Committee identified the gunman as 34-year-old Artyom Kazantsev, a graduate of the same school, and said he was wearing a black t-shirt bearing “Nazi symbols.” No details about his motives have been released.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the shooting as “a terrorist act” and said Russian President Vladimir Putin has given all the necessary orders to the relevant authorities.
