Iran Weightlifter Motamedi Undergoes Surgery
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian weightlifter Rasoul Motamedi underwent hand surgery on Tuesday.
Motamedi is out of the 2022 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships in Bogota, Colombia - the first qualifying event for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
He suffered an injury in a domestic competition.
Motamedi was Iran's only winner at last year's IWF World Championships when he took the under-102-kilogram title.
He was expected to put up a strong challenge to retain his title in Bogota, which hosts the 2022 IWF World Championships from December 5 to 16.
