Unidentified Drones Target Al-Bukamal Desert on Syrian-Iraqi Border

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Unidentified drones targeted the Al-Bukamal desert region, located on the Syrian-Iraqi border, on Wednesday night.

Citing sources affiliated with opposition groups in Syria, Channel 13 of the Israeli television reported that the areas of the Al-Bukamal desert were targeted by several drones, possibly Israeli.

The so-called "Syrian Human Rights Watch" group, affiliated with the rebel groups, reported the sound of several explosions in the Al-Bukamal desert on the outskirts of Deir Ez-Zur, Syria, near the border with Iraq.

Sources affiliated with Syrian rebel groups on their Twitter pages claimed that these explosions occurred simultaneously with the flight of possibly Israeli drones over the Al-Bukamal area. So far, no information on possible human casualties caused by these drone attacks has been released.

This attack comes after an Israeli drone crashed in Syria on Wednesday, according to the Israeli regime military.

Israel has been conducting airstrikes in Syria over the past years, targeting government and military positions, and supporting terrorist groups that oppose the democratically-elected government of President Bashar al-Assad.

The Tel Aviv regime rarely comments on its attacks on Syrian territories, which many see as a reaction to the Syrian government’s success in fighting terrorism.
