Iran Delivers First Batch of Telesurgical Robots to Indonesia in Boost to Scientific Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology Issa Zarepour announced the successful delivery of the initial set of telesurgical robots developed and produced in Iran to Indonesia.

Zarepour, who also serves as the head of the Iran-Indonesia Joint Economic Commission, disclosed this information during a late Tuesday interview with Iran's IRIB.

He revealed that over 100 Indonesian surgeons have undergone training to operate the robots, named Sina after the renowned Iranian polymath Ibn Sina (Avicenna).

Zarepour emphasized that Iranian knowledge-based companies and experts were responsible for the manufacturing of these devices.

The minister highlighted the mutual commitment of Iran and Indonesia to enhance scientific and technological collaboration, particularly in the field of medical equipment.

During the interview, Zarepour further stated that Tehran and Jakarta remain steadfast in implementing the agreements forged between the two nations during President Ebrahim Raisi's visit to Indonesia, which concluded on Wednesday.

The ICT minister assured that the implementation process would commence shortly, with the 13th session of the joint economic commission between Iran and Indonesia scheduled to take place in Tehran.

He explained that Iranian and Indonesian teams have been engaging in negotiations over the past few months to finalize the agreements signed between the two countries on Tuesday.

Raisi, leading a high-level delegation, began his two-day state visit to Jakarta on Tuesday. He described the visit as a pivotal moment in the advancement of relations between the two Muslim nations.

During the trip, the two sides inked 11 cooperation documents and memoranda of understanding aimed at fostering economic and political interactions across various sectors.
