Disturbing Video Shows Colorado Officer Punching Handcuffed Woman in Face

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A Colorado police officer, Russell Maranto, 28, has been fired after a video surfaced showing him punching a handcuffed woman, Angelia Hall, 59, directly in the face while she was detained in a hospital emergency room.

The footage captures Hall's increasing frustration and anger, accompanied by cursing and yelling at the officers and nurses present.

However, it was when she spat at Maranto that he reacted immediately by punching her.

Another officer intervened and pulled Maranto away from Hall. Loveland Police Chief Tim Doran explained his decision to terminate Maranto, citing the unnecessary use of force.

He released a statement emphasizing transparency and accountability for both his team and citizens who break the law.

The chief urged the public to watch the complete 90-minute body camera footage of the incident, stressing the importance of viewing the entire episode.

While the incident was investigated by the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, the district attorney's office has not yet filed criminal charges against Maranto.

Hall, who was initially reported for displaying confused and incoherent behavior while wandering in and out of traffic, has been charged with third-degree assault for her actions towards the fired officer.
