Vouria Ghafouri Claims He Was 'Wrongly' Excluded from World Cup Squad

Ghafouri was left off Iran's 24-man squad for the World Cup. Team Melli coach Carlos Queiroz did not say why Ghafouri, a Esteghlal FC right-back, was not included.

“I think Queiroz made mistake for not inviting me to the national team. It’s the worst memory I have ever had in my life. I don’t know why I was left out the team because I was well-prepared for the competition,” Ghafouri said.

“I cannot say anything more. Queiroz decided not to take me to the World Cup, but I think I could help Team Melli in Russia. I think Queiroz made mistake,” he added.  

Ghfouri was invited to Iran national football team in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, where Team Melli failed to advance to the final match.
