Syrian Forces Target Terrorists’ Positions in Idlib, Hama
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian forces carried out operations targeting terrorists’ gatherings in the southern countryside of Idlib as well as the northern countryside of Hama in response to the militants’ breaches of a de-escalation zone agreement.
The positions of Al-Nusra Front militants and other terrorist groups in the areas of Ma’aret Harma, Hirsh Abdein, al-Qasabiya, al-Habbit, Kafaroma, and Kafr Nubbul in Idlib were pounded by the Syrian army on Sunday, SANA reported.
The report added that the terrorists were trying to sneak into safe areas and military points in the northern Hama countryside.
Scores of the militants were killed and injured during the raids and several terrorist leaders were reportedly among those killed.
The attacks reportedly came after the terrorists violated the de-escalation zone agreement reached following a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi on September 17.
The Syrian government’s attacks on terrorists’ positions in Idlib and Hama come in the wake of reports that members of the Jabhat Fateh al-Sham Takfiri terrorist group, formerly known as al-Nusra Front, together with militants from the Turkistan Islamic Party in Syria, are mounting chemical warheads on more than a hundred missiles in cooperation with European experts in Idlib.
