Javad Nekounam Takes Charge of Foolad
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Javad Nekounam penned a two-year contract with Iranian football club Foolad Khuzestan Tuesday night.
The former Osasuna player has replaced Afshin Ghotbi, who left the team after five months.
Nekounam most recently was the coach of Nassaji Mazandaran.
The ex-Iran captain, who was Carlos Queiroz’s assistant for a while, had been linked with a move to Tractor Sazi Tabriz as Belgian coach Georges Leekens’ replacement.
Nekounam was also a nominee to take charge of Iran’s U-23 football team.
