Iran Reaffirms Support for Lebanon on Liberation Day

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani congratulated Lebanon on the anniversary of liberation of its southern regions from Israeli occupation back in 2000, and voiced the Islamic Republic’s support for the Lebanese government and nation in the battle against Zionists.

In a message to President of Lebanon Michel Aoun, Rouhani congratulated the Lebanese government and nation on the Liberation Day and the festival of resistance.

Praising Lebanon for its devotion in the battle against Israelis, the Iranian president said the Zionist regime is founded on aggression and the only way to stand against the aggressors is resistance.

He also reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to supporting the Arab country’s government and nation in line with the Lebanese people, Army and resistance groups’ willpower to maintain unity and defend their state.

Every year in May, Lebanon commemorates the anniversary of the Israeli withdrawal from its southern territories, known as Resistance and Liberation Day.

Hezbollah forces pushed the Israeli troops out of the southern parts of Lebanon on May 25, 2000, after more than two decades of occupation.

The national holiday in Lebanon is seen as a turning point that changed the regional equations and debunked the myth of Israel’s invincibility.
