President Appoints Caretaker for Iran’s Education Ministry

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani appointed a new caretaker to the Ministry of Education after the minister left the office to run for a seat in the Parliament.

In a decree on Sunday, Rouhani assigned Javad Hosseini to run the Education Ministry until a minister is selected.

On June 7, Rouhani accepted the resignation of Minister of Education Seyed Mohammad Bathaei who stepped down from the post to run for the Parliament.

Iran is going to hold parliamentary elections in February 2020.

The Parliament had given a vote of confidence to Bathaei as the minister of education in August 2017.

Bathaei was in the initial list of the nominees for cabinet posts that Rouhani had proposed to the Parliament days after being sworn in as the president for a second term.
