Switzerland Inks Deal on Protection of Iran’s Interests in Canada

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – High-ranking officials from Iran and Switzerland signed an agreement on the protection of the Islamic Republic’s interests in Canada.

The fourth round of “comprehensive political dialogue”, co-chaired by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Seyed Abbas Araqchi and Switzerland’s State Secretary of Federal Department of Foreign Affaires Pascale Baeriswyl, was held in Bern, on Thursday.

The high-ranking Iranian delegation included representatives from Judiciary power, according to the official website of the Foreign Ministry.

During the session, Araqchi and Baeriswyl signed an agreement on the protection of Iran’s interests in Canada which does not include consular services.

The two officials expressed satisfaction on the achievements made through bilateral cooperation over the last three years in the context of the Road Map adopted in 2016 and emphasized the need for expediting the process of the full implementation of the Road Map.

They also discussed a wide range of topics on the agenda of Iran and Switzerland, including cooperation in various areas of science, health, water resource management, intellectual property right, agriculture, medicine, tourism, and disaster management.
