Hamideh Abbasali Qualifies for Karate 1-Series A Santiago Final
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Hamideh Abbasali secured her place at the 2020 Karate 1-Series A Santiago final on Saturday.
She defeated Mexico's Sachiko Paulina Ramos in the +68 female kumite semis and advanced to the final match.
Abbasali will meet her Chinese opponent on Sunday.
Rozita Alipour in the -61kg female kumite, Zabiollah Poorshab in the -84kg male kumite and Sajad Ganjzadeh in the +84kg male kumite have already qualified for the finals.
Nearly 500 athletes from 65 countries are in Chile for the first event of the season.
In addition to launching the year of international karate, the Karate 1-Series A Santiago is the last tournament of the Olympic qualification period to be held in the American continent.
