Persepolis Wants to Reestablish as A Force: ACL 2020

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis football team of Iran can reestablish itself as a force to be reckoned with in the 2020 AFC Champions League current season.

The Iranian giant will meet Qatari powerhouse Al Duhail on Tuesday in Group C in Doha.

Just two seasons ago, Persepolis was beaten finalist in the ACL so it undoubtedly would have been disappointed to finish bottom of its group just five months into the following year, foxsportsasia.com reported.

In the defense, it found itself in a highly-competitive Group D and just three points separated the team and winner Al Sadd, so it is far from a spent force completely.

With a host of big names to call upon still, including goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand, forward Ali Alipour and rising Iranian stars Mehdi Torabi and Hossein Kanaanizadegan, there is no reason why Persepolis should not be looking to reclaim its place among Asia’s elite – starting with a top-two finish in Group D.
