Iranian Diplomat Slams Harmful Visits to Region by US Officials

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior adviser to the Iranian foreign minister denounced a rise in the number of visits by American officials to regional countries recently as part of attempts to foment Iranophobia and instability.

In a meeting with Qatar’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, held in Doha on Tuesday, senior adviser to Iran’s foreign minister for special political affairs Ali Asghar Khaji said the growing number of trips the US authorities have been making to regional countries over the past recent days and weeks is meant to incite Iranophobia and create instability in the region.

The two diplomats also discussed ways to promote Tehran-Doha political and economic relations, and agreed to hold a session if the Joint Commission in the near future.

Khaji and Al-Muraikhi further talked about the ongoing developments in the region, stressing the need to continue bilateral consultations.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has repeatedly described enhancement of relations with neighbors, Qatar in particular, as an indispensable part of Tehran’s foreign policy.
