Zarif: Iran Ready to Help Turkey after Quake

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif sympathized with Turkish people and government over a deadly earthquake that struck western Turkey on Friday, expressing Tehran’s readiness to assist the neighboring country.

In a message for his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, Zarif expressed deep sympathy over the tragic earthquake that struck Izmir.

He also wished speedy recovery for the injured, and informed his Turkish counterpart of Iran's preparedness for providing any kind of assistance in that regard.

Iran’s Red Crescent Society has also expressed its readiness to provide assistance for the quake-hit people of Turkey.

The strong earthquake struck the Aegean Sea on Friday and inflicted damage in both Greece and Turkey, where buildings collapsed killing at least four people with many others trapped in the rubble.
