Iran’s Taremi, Ansarifard Shortlisted for AFC International Player of Week

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian forwards Mehdi Taremi and Karim Ansarifard have been shortlisted for AFC International Player of the Week.

Taremi scored Porto’s second goal against Fabril in the third round of the Portuguese Cup.

Another expert finish made it goals in consecutive matches for the Team Melli striker, who lasered the ball into the net on the half volley to further establish himself in the Porto line-up, and help Sergio Conceicao’s side advances in Portuguese Cup.

Karim Ansarifard, AEK’s Mr. Efficiency, continues to turn minimal minutes into maximum impact, hammering the ball into the back of the net just 10 minutes being introduced as a substitute in the Greek Super League. Unfortunately, the Iranian forward left the pitch early through injury, putting him in doubt for Thursday’s UEFA Europa League clash with Allahyar Sayyadmanesh’s Zorya Luhansk.

The Iranian duo will compete with Junya Ito (KRC Genk, Japan), Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur, Korea Republic), Mat Ryan (Brighton and Hove Albion, Australia), Takehiro Tomiyasu (Bologna, Japan), Parvizjon Umarboev (Lokomotiv Plovdiv, Tajikistan), Caitlin Foord (Arsenal, Australia), Osama Rashid (Santa Clara, Iraq) and Jiloan Hamad (HNK Gorica, Iraq).
