Hezbollah Condemns Assassination of Iranian Scientist

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement strongly condemned the assassination of top Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh by Israeli and American agents, noting that the Islamic Republic will reserve the right to retaliate.

“We condemn this heinous attack and see that the response to this crime is in the hands of those concerned in Iran,” Hezbollah’s second-in-command Sheikh Naim Qassem said in an interview with al-Manar television network on Saturday.

Martyr Fakhrizadeh was killed by “those sponsored by America and Israel”, he said, adding that the assassination was part of a war on Iran and the region.

Fakhrizadeh, the head of the Defense Ministry’s Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND), was assassinated by terrorists in his vehicle in a small city east of the capital Tehran in an attack on Friday that also involved a car bombing.

Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said the country’s first COVID-19 test kits were produced in a research center headed by assassinated the Iranian physicist, hailing the martyr as one of the pioneers of the country’s scientific movement against the novel coronavirus.
