US Capitol Police Issues No Confidence Vote in Leaders
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Members of the United States Capitol Police on Friday issued an anticipated vote of no confidence in its top leaders over the Jan. 6 riot.
The news outlet reported that the force's seven leaders – including acting Chief Yoganada Pittman, two assistant chiefs, three deputy chiefs and a captain of the division that staffs the US Capitol – each received a vote of no confidence, according to sources that shared the vote tallies with CNN.
“It's been just over one month since one of our nation's darkest days, and the trauma is still incredibly raw and difficult for the many officers who fought heroically on the 6th," Pittman said in a statement, according to CNN. "Since being sworn in on January 8th, my executive team and I have made the well-being of our officers our top priority.
"While progress has been made, more work remains," Pittman added. "And I am committed to ensuring every officer gets what they need and deserve.”

Voting began on Thursday afternoon and ran for 24 hours, the news service reported. Voting was limited to members represented by the United States Capitol Police Labor Committee.
The vote comes one month after the Jan. 6 riot that led to the death of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, and left dozens of other officers injured.
During former US president Donald Trump’s impeachment trial in the Senate on Wednesday, the House impeachment managers presented security footage detailing the heroic acts of law enforcement that day.
US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on Thursday that the officers who protected the Capitol during the riot will be receive the Congressional Gold Medal.
