COVID Daily Deaths in Iran Drop to 14

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The daily death toll from the coronavirus in Iran plunged to below 15, marking one of the lowest fatality rates in more than two years.

The figures released by the Iranian Health Ministry on Friday indicate that the total deaths from COVID-19 in the country have reached 141,072, as the pandemic has taken the lives of 14 patients over the past 24 hours.

Over the past 24 hours, 719 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 135 of them hospitalized, the ministry added.

More than 6.98 million individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 7,221,000 ones who have contracted the disease, it said.

Some 1,070 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it added.

The ministry also said that over 64.32 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 57.53 million have received the second dosage, and more than 27.01 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 512 million and the death toll has exceeded 6.25 million.
