Iran Exporting Shrimps to 21 Countries: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Some 37,000 tons of shrimp were exported overseas during the last Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2023), the director general of Iran Fisheries Organization (IFO) said, adding that the country is currently exporting shrimp to 21 countries.

Vahid Madani made the comments on Saturday and stated that the farmed shrimp in the country is currently exported to Russia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), China, Qatar and neighboring Turkey.

Planning is underway for producing farmed shrimp in the country as an export-based product, he said, noting that the shrimp farmed in the country is now exported to at least 21 countries.

Madani put the farmed shrimp exported to other countries last year (ended March 20, 2023) at more than 37,000 tons.

Iran Fisheries Organization is seeking to attract investors for diversifying the packages and supply of this product in order to develop the export of farmed shrimp, the director general added.
