D-8 Member States to Convene Next Week to Bolster Tourism Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The meeting of the D-8 group of developing Islamic countries at the ministerial level will be held next week to discuss strengthening tourism cooperation among the member states.

Pakistan’s Mori city will host the meeting with a focus on strengthening tourism cooperation among the member states.

The two-day meeting will be held at the initiative of the Pakistan Tourism Development Organization.

At the second meeting of the D-8 group, which was held in Malaysia in 2019, it was decided that the third meeting will be held in Pakistan at the ministerial level but this meeting was postponed in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The D-8 group was established on June 15, 1997 at the suggestion of the then prime minister of Turkey aimed at strengthening economic cooperation in member states.

The D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, known as Developing-8, is an economic organization for developing cooperation among member states, namely Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt and Nigeria.
