Iranian Defense Ministry Explains Unidentified Object Crash in Gorgan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran's Defense Ministry Spokesperson Brigadier General Reza Talaee Nik has attributed the crash of an unidentified object in the city of Gorgan to the testing of UAV and offensive systems.

"Offensive and UAV systems are regularly tested in the country's desert regions, and during one of such research tests, a system experienced a malfunction and disintegration, leading to its crash in the area of Gorgan,” General Talaee Nik stated, commenting on the morning's incident in Gorgan during a television interview.

"Fortunately, there have been no casualties in this incident, and if there has been any material damage to our fellow citizens, it will be compensated by the Ministry of Defense,” he added.

Talaee Nik mentioned that operation and rescue teams are currently collecting the fallen debris. "While thanking the noble people of Gorgan, we expect that if they come across any remaining pieces, they refrain from tampering with or moving them, so that the operational teams can complete their tasks as soon as possible."

On Monday, unidentified objects crashed in different parts of Iran's northern city of Gorgan, resulting in injuries to two civilians, as reported by the Deputy Political Governor of Golestan Province.

The incident occurred around 9 am local time, with the fallen objects scattered throughout Gorgan, primarily in residential zones. In response, military and security forces promptly initiated an investigation to ascertain the full extent and implications of these occurrences.

Residents were startled by a loud noise on the morning of the incident, prompting reports of several unidentified objects descending in different areas of the city. Local law enforcement has confirmed the event and initiated an ongoing investigation.

Notably, the central location of these events was Gorgan's Standard Boulevard, with one of the unidentified objects even landing within the premises of Shahid Dezjani Hospital. Eyewitnesses and residents observed multiple fragments falling across various locations within the city.
