Iran, UAE Discuss Cooperation in Using Clean Fuels

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Officials from Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) emphasized the need for enhancing cooperation in using clean fuels.

Head of the Iranian Department of Environment (DoE) Ali Salajegheh, during a Tuesday meeting with the Permanent Representative of the UAE to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Nawal Al-Hosany on the sidelines of the second day of the International Conference on Sand and Dust Storms, pointed to the amicable and friendly relations between Iran and UAE which dates back to many years ago and added that the issues on combating desertification, dust, pollution of beaches, specially Persian Gulf, are of the fields that the two countries can cooperate with each other.

He added that the developed and industrialized countries have inflicted serious damage to the environment and now, it is high time that these countries should be held accountable in this regard.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on sharing experiences in the field of using clean energies.

Since Iran has not joined the Paris Climate Accords, the country in cooperation with the knowledge-based companies has taken effective steps in line with boosting quality of fuel and is ready to provide other countries with these fruitful experiences, the head of DoE said.

The permanent representative of the UAE to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), for her part, thanked Iran for its efforts in this field and said that regional countries should join their hands together to address the issue.
