Iran Exports over $10 Billion of Products to West Asian Countries in 6 Months: TPOI

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran exported more than $10 billion worth of products to countries in West Asia in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2023), showing a 6 percent hike compared to the same period of last year.

The director general of the West Asian Office of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) pointed to the trade exchanges between Iran and West Asia and said, “According to the statistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Iran exported $10.346 billion worth of commodities to West Asian countries including Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey from March 21 to September 22.”

Iran’s export of products to the West Asian countries increased by about $600 million in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year, registering a six percent growth compared to last year’s corresponding period, Farzad Piltan added.

The Islamic Republic of Iran exported 30,387,000 tons of products to the aforementioned West Asian states from March 21 to September 22, 2023, indicating a 25 percent hike in terms of weight compared to the same period of last year, the official stated.

Among these countries, Iraq, which imported $4.5 billion of products from Iran, the United Arab Emirates which imported about $3 billion, and Turkey, which imported $2.4 billion worth of products, were the 1st to 3rd export target markets of the country, Piltan noted.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the director general pointed to the products imported from these states to the country and added that Iran imported about $13 billion worth of products from them from March 21 to September 22, 2023, registering about 18 and 13 percent hike in value and weight respectively compared to the same period of last year.

Planning to export products with higher added value, promoting the level of services of the trade centers, streamlining the quality of services of commercial envoys, supporting joint production, and enhancing the quality of productivity of exhibition activities, are among the programs taken by the organization to spur exports and export activities.
