Iraq’s Electricity Minister Arrives in Tehran for IEE, Talks on Developing Bilateral Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iraq’s Minister of Electricity Ziad Ali Fazel arrived in Tehran on Wednesday with the aim of participating in the Iran International Electricity Exhibition (IEE) and holding bilateral talks with his Iranian counterpart on the expansion of electricity cooperation.

Expressing his keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation and develop the energy activities between the two countries, the Iraqi minister of electricity stated that his country is ready to hold expert-level meetings with Iranian officials regarding the smartening of the electricity meters, using high capabilities and potentials of Iranian knowledge-based companies and also enhancing cooperation in the field of renewable energies.

In addition to holding high-profile talks with the senior officials including Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian, Fazel will visit the Iran Electricity Industry Tech Market Festival and 23rd Iran International Electricity Exhibition (IEE).

The exhibition was inaugurated in Tehran on November 14 and will run through November 17.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Electricity Industry Spokesman Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi said that Iraq is among Iran’s electricity export destinations and that talks are underway between officials of the two countries in the electricity sector.
