Iran, Qatar Trade Ties on Upward Trajectory in Recent Years: Minister

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Qatari minister of commerce and industry said the trade and economic relations between Tehran and Doha have significantly increased in recent years, emphasizing that amicable mutual ties will open a new chapter for strengthening cooperation in various sectors.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the 9th Iran-Qatar Joint Economic Cooperation in Tehran on Monday, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Qassim Al-Abdullah Al-Thani stated that the way has been paved for following up the agreements inked between the two sides in the previous edition of the commission which can help the development of trade, industrial and economic ties between the two countries.

The firm and stable relations between the two governments of Iran and Qatar indicate the will for enhanced relations between the two countries in various fields, he said, adding that the mutual interaction between the two sides is on the growth track. 

High-ranking officials of the two countries have inked several memoranda of understanding and agreements, showing the high level of trade ties between the two countries, he said, expressing hope that the 9th Iran-Qatar Joint Economic Cooperation Commission can open a new chapter of cooperation in various sectors.

In the contemporary world, the two countries are facing challenges and facing them requires strengthening trade, economic and industrial cooperation, the Qatari minister added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to the key role of the private sector which can help develop bilateral trade ties to a great extent.

He further called on the private sectors of the two countries to cooperate in enhancing the volume of bilateral trade.
