Iran Routs Afghanistan at 2024 IWBF AOZ
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s men’s wheelchair basketball team defeated Afghanistan 81-41 at the 2024 IWBF Asia Oceania Championships quarterfinals on Thursday.
Team Melli will play the winner of Thailand and Japan in the semifinals on Friday.
Iran had defeated South Korea, Thailand, Japan and China in its previous matches and lost to Australia.
Team Iran was recently awarded the title of the “2023 Best Asian Team Performance” by the Asian Paralympic Committee (AsPC).
The competition serves as a qualification for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and the winner will qualify for the Paralympics.
The 2024 IWBF Asia Oceania Championships in men’s and women’s division are being held in Bangkok, Thailand from January 12 to 20.
