Iranian, Iraqi Universities Ink MoU on Scientific Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Academic officials from Iran and Iraq signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost bilateral ties in scientific fields.

An academic delegation from Iraq’s Tikrit University visited the holy city of Qom in Iran and held talks with the deputies and officials of the University of Qom, before signing the MoU.

The two sides emphasized establishing scientific and academic relations as well as promoting the level of cooperation in the cultural and scientific fields.

The main topics stipulated in the memorandum of understanding include: developing scientific-academic cooperation, exchanging technical expertise and scientific know-how for faculty members, strengthening the scientific, academic and cultural ties between the two sides, organizing training programs for faculty members and students to enrich the scientific, academic and cultural centers, and increasing the cooperation between academic staff members and graduate students.

Also, the two sides agreed to cooperate in the field of identifying and conducting joint research activities, holding international conferences, seminars and joint tutorial workshops, organizing short-term training courses and online courses, conducting scientific activities and holding educational plans for graduate students

Tikrit University in Saladin province in Iraq is a state-owned academic center that was established in 1978 and is home to 32 faculties with more than 42,000 students.
