Syrian Air Defense Repulses Israeli Strike on Damascus

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The air defense units of the Syria Army repelled an Israeli missile attack on a region near the capital Damascus.

The Syrian air defense on Saturday repelled an Israeli missile strike on a number of posts in the Damascus countryside and brought down a number of the rockets.

“Nearly at 1:05 am on Saturday, the Israeli enemy launched an aerial aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting some sites in the Damascus countryside,” a military source told SANA.

The source added that the army air defenses have repelled the missile strike, bringing down a number of the missiles.

The losses have been reportedly limited to material damages.

The strike came a few hours after the Syrian Army’s air defense units shot down two Israeli drones that had penetrated the country’s airspace from the direction of the Golan Heights.

They were hovering over neighborhoods in the western flank of Damascus, before they were intercepted and destroyed.

The Israeli regime frequently targets military positions inside Syria, especially those of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah which has played a key role in helping the Syrian army in its fight against foreign-backed terrorists.
