Iran, Vietnam Hold Political Talks in Tehran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian and Vietnamese diplomats held the 8th meeting of political consultations between the two countries in Tehran.

The meeting on Monday was co-chaired by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Baqeri and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Minh Hang.

The two diplomats discussed a range of issues on cooperation between Tehran and Hanoi in the political, economic, cultural, tourism, and scientific fields, as well as regional and international developments.

Iran and Vietnam, as two players in East and West Asia, have high potential and capacities to step up their cooperation, especially in the economic field, Baqeri said.

“Due to Iran’s progress in technology, we can boost our cooperation with Vietnam in this area,” he added, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

Referring to the Israeli onslaught on Gaza, Baqeri said, “Iran and Vietnam, and all governments and nations that stick to human values, should do their best to stop the ongoing genocide that is being perpetrated with the US support.”

For her part, the Vietnamese deputy foreign minister said her visit to Tehran is aimed at talking to the officials in Iran, as a major and influential country in West Asia, as well as discussing ways to promote bilateral ties.

“Taking into account the significant potentials of the two countries’ markets, we are ready to remove the existing hurdles and problems in order to step up and develop the bilateral ties, especially in the economic and commercial fields,” she stated.
