Iranian Spokesman: Israel Unqualified for Membership in Any Human Rights Body

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Decrying the Zionist regime’s dark record of massacre of Palestinians and the international agencies’ employees, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson said Israel is not qualified to be a member of any human rights organization or international mechanisms.

In a post on his X account on Thursday, Nasser Kanaani pointed to the official statistics collected by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

“Since the beginning of the war against Gaza, at least 165 employees of this agency have been killed during attacks carried out by the Zionist regime; So far, more than 150 centers belonging to UNRWA, such as schools, have been bombed, some of which have been completely destroyed; More than 400 Palestinians were killed in UN-affiliated centers in Gaza while seeking shelter,” the Iranian spokesman said.

“A regime that does not value international humanitarian organizations, their missions, services, and even the lives of their employees, and has killed around 9,000 Palestinian women and 12,500 children over the last five months is not qualified to be a member of or remain in any human rights organization as well as international mechanisms related to the rights of women and children,” he underlined.

At least 31,341 Palestinians have been killed and 73,134 injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7.

The Israeli forces on Thursday shot dead at least six Palestinians and wounded 83 in Gaza City as they were waiting for food and humanitarian supplies at the Kuwait Roundabout, an area where large groups of people gather for arriving aid trucks.

The attack took place hours after at least five people were killed by an Israeli air strike on a food distribution center in Rafah, southern Gaza, run by UNRWA, which is the main humanitarian agency in Gaza.
