WHO Registers Iran’s ‘Family Health Program’ Initiative

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The World Health Organization recorded the “Family Health Program” as an initiative developed by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran registered its name as the initiator of the ‘Family Health Program’, an official of the WHO European Region said.

The program that was launched in Iran two decades ago helps people receive quality health care and services.

Every household is in contact with a health caretaker under the program. Instead of going to health centers and hospitals in every case, the citizens are initially referred to family physicians for diagnosis and treatment.

The program also covers maternal and child health, as well as the prevention and early treatment of communicable and non-communicable diseases.

Iran’s Health Minister Bahram Einollahi, who has attended the summit of the health ministers of member states of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Kazakhstan, offered a comprehensive report on the achievements of Iran in the pharmaceutical, healthcare and medical equipment sectors.

Einollahi also said that the WHO member states have expressed readiness to cooperate with Iran in the fields of medicine and medical equipment.

Iran’s ‘Family Health Program’ initiative was warmly welcomed by the WHO officials and the member states.
