FM Highlights Iran’s Policy of Interaction in Nowruz Message

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian congratulated a number of Nowruz-celebrating nations on the ancient festive occasion, reaffirming Iran’s commitment to promoting cooperation and friendship with those countries.

On the first day of spring on March 20, the top Iranian diplomat sent separate congratulatory messages to his counterparts in the countries that celebrate Nowruz, including the Republic of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and India.

Hailing Nowruz as an age-old civilizational and cultural heritage shared by the regional nations, Amirabdollahian said the Nowruz traditions symbolize deep-rooted humanitarian and cultural bonds and reflect the long history of peace and friendship among them.

He also noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran will press on with the expansion of relations with the Nowruz-celebrating nations within the framework of its policy of good neighborliness and will seriously try to deepen the bonds of friendship, ties, and cooperation on the basis of mutual interests.

In 2010, the UN General Assembly established March 21 as the International Day of Nowruz. The UN also celebrates the International Day of Happiness.

The international Nowruz Day was proclaimed at the initiative of several countries that share this holiday.
