Iran, Egypt Reject Plans for Forced Displacement of Gazans

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Egypt discussed diplomatic efforts to put an immediate end to the Zionist regime’s onslaught on Gaza and send humanitarian aids into the besieged enclave, with both dismissing any Israeli plan for the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.

In a telephone conversation on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry discussed a range of bilateral and regional issues, including the latest developments in Palestine.

The two top diplomats reviewed the positive developments in bilateral relations and discussed the ways to develop ties based on the will of the political leaders of the two countries, as shown in the results of a recent meeting they held in Geneva.

Pointing to the results of the meeting that the presidents of Iran and Egypt held in Riyadh in November 2023, the two ministers agreed on the continuation of contacts to develop and improve relations between Tehran and Cairo.

Amirabdollahian and Shoukry also reviewed the latest developments related to the barbaric attacks of the Zionist regime on the Gaza Strip, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

They expressed concern over the continued killing of Palestinian women, children, and civilians and the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, stressing the urgency of stopping the insane attacks by the Israeli regime.

They also called for the implementation of the recent UN Security Council resolution and for delivery of international humanitarian aids into Gaza.

The foreign ministers further opposed any Israeli plan for the forced migration of the Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the need for effective measures by the international organizations to prevent the Israeli invasion of Rafah in south of Gaza.

Highlighting the important role of the resistance in Palestine, Amirabdollahian assessed the recent official visits of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of Hamas, and Ziyad al-Nakhalah, the secretary-general of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, to Tehran as important.
