Muslims Worldwide Mark Eid al-Fitr
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Muslims in Iran and various nations are observing Eid al-Fitr the holy fasting month of Ramadan draws to a close, following the sighting of the new moon of the lunar month of Shawwal.
In Iran's northeastern city of Mashhad, Naqareh drums resonated at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) as worshippers participated in Eid prayers. This marks the conclusion of Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, during which Muslims fast from dawn to sunset.
In Tehran, crowds congregated at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla for Eid al-Fitr prayers, led by Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Not only in Iran but also in countries like Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Yemen, and others, Eid al-Fitr is being celebrated. This day holds great significance for Muslims worldwide, symbolizing the end of a month-long fasting period.
Eid al-Fitr falls on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th lunar calendar month, with its timing determined by the sighting of the new moon. It is customary for Muslims to offer a special Salat, usually performed in open fields or large halls with congregations.
