Moscow Comments on Reports of US Hackers' Penetration in Kremlin Command Systems

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Russia expects the United States to make legal assessment of media reports about alleged cyberattacks on Russian information systems by US hackers, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Saturday.

On Friday, NBC News reported that US military hackers had penetrated Russia's electric grid, telecommunications networks and the Kremlin's command systems, making them vulnerable to attacks by secret US cyber weapons.

"Amid the emerging media reports about infiltration of US military hackers in Russian telecommunication and electronic systems as well as in Kremlin command systems, we expect the US authorities, including the White House and the State Department, to make legal assessment of this information," Zakharova told journalists, Sputnik reported.

She noted that the lack of US official reaction would mean that the United States is resorting to state cyberterrorism.

"No official reaction of the US administration will mean existence of the state cyberterrorism in the United States and if the threats voiced by the US media are carried out, Moscow will have the right to accuse Washington," Zakharova added.
