President of Iran Congratulates Regional States on Nowruz

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani sent congratulatory messages to the heads of ten regional countries on the festive occasion of Nowruz, calling for close interaction in tackling the coronavirus pandemic.

Hours after the vernal equinox and beginning of the new solar year on Saturday, the Iranian president congratulated Afghanistan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan on Nowruz.

In his messages, President Rouhani referred to coronavirus pandemic and the economic and social challenges in the world, hoping for interaction between the countries to contain the pandemic.

He also wished happiness and health for all countries.

In 2010, the UN General Assembly established March 21 as the International Day of Nowruz. The UN also celebrates the International Day of Happiness.

The international Nowruz Day was proclaimed at the initiative of several countries that share this holiday, including Iran, Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan.
