Exports from Iran’s Chabahar Port Increase by 100%
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – According to the head of the Sistan and Balouchestan Ports and Maritime Organization, exports from the southeastern port of Chabahar have increased by 100 percent so far in the current Persian year (started on March 21) compared to the previous year.
Behrouz Aghaei was quoted as saying that transit growth was 17 percent compared to the same time last year, without specifying the amount or value of exports.
Container cargoes have been exported to the port of transit goods since the start of the new Iranian year (March 20, 2021).
The Chabahar Free Trade-Industrial Zone (CFZ) is one of Iran's seven free trade zones, which has been established for more than two decades in the vicinity of Chabahar city and along the coasts of the Oman Sea.
Chabahar Port, with a yearly capacity of over 12 million tons of loading and unloading, is a vital port in southern Iran.
Chabahar is the closest and best access point of Iran to the Indian Ocean and Iran has devised serious plans to turn it into a transit hub for immediate access to markets in the northern part of the Indian Ocean and Central Asia.
