Iran’s Ali Aghamirzaei Wins Tokyo Ticket

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Ali Aghamirzaei from Iran qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games after winning a gold medal at the Asian Canoe Confederation qualifiers in Pattaya on Thursday.

Five countries shared the Olympic quotas available on the final day of racing in Thailand, with Korea, Japan, Iran and China joining the host nation in securing tickets to this year’s Tokyo Olympics.

Aghamirzaei came first with a time of 03:36.555 at the men’s K1 1000.

Uzbekistan’s Shakhriyor Makhkamov (03:37.433) and Japan’s Taishi Tanada (03:38.963) finished in second and third place, respectively.
