Iranian Athletes to Miss World Athletics Championships over Visa Issue
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian athletes Ehsan Hadadi and Mehdi Pirjahan were denied entry to the United States for the World Athletics Championships Oregon22.
More than 1,900 athletes from 192 teams will be in action at Eugene’s Hayward Field between 15-24 July.
Hadadi was supposed to participate in discus throwing and Pirjahan would compete in the 400 meters event but the US government didn’t grant them visas.
The Iranian national karate team had earlier been denied visas to enter the country for The World Games in Birmingham.
