Iranian, Turkish FMs Discuss Bilateral Ties, Erdogan’s Upcoming Visit to Tehran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Turkey discussed issues of mutual interest in a telephone conversation on Saturday.
In their conversation, Hossein Amirabdollahian and Mevlut Cavusoglu hailed an upcoming visit to Iran by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
They also exchanged views on political and consular ties between the two countries.
Erdogan is going to lead a high-ranking delegation of Turkish officials during his trip to Iran.
He and Russian President Vladimir Putin will be in Tehran later this week to attend the Astana peace talks on Syria with their Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi.
Iran and Russia, as the allies of the Syrian government, as well as Turkey, which sides with the opposition, set up the Astana peace process in January 2017 intending to put an end to the Syrian conflict through the involvement of the Syrian government and the opposition.
The three countries have so far held 18 rounds of talks, initially in the Kazakh capital of Astana. The last triple summit was held in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan in mid-June.
