Iranian Advisor Says Biden Team Should Make Serious Decision Now

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - An advisor to the Iranian delegation at the Vienna talks, Mohammad Marandi, believes that "a quick agreement could be reached" if the US made the "right decision".

The US's response to Tehran's most recent position on reviving the 2015 nuclear deal has drawn criticism from an advisor to Iran's negotiating team, who asserted that for the US, being "constructive" means agreeing to its terms.

“For the US "constructive" usually means accepting US terms,” Marandi said in a post on twitter on Friday, while stressing that Iran has responded as promised and now “It's time for the Biden team to make a serious decision.”

Noting that If the United States makes “the right decision, an agreement can be swiftly concluded,” he stressed that for Iran a constructive deal "means a deal that is balanced and protected.”

Marandi also added that both E3 and the US “know that the Iranian response is very reasonable.”

“US & E3 negotiators have said before that words matter. In order for the deal to be signed (that can happen within days) there must be no ambiguities left that could later be used to harm the deal. It's not complicated,” he said.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan'ani said early Friday that Tehran expressed its opinion on the US response to an EU draft text for the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal.

“After receiving the United States’ response, the Islamic Republic’s expert team examined it carefully and Iran’s responses were compiled and submitted to the coordinator tonight,” Kan’ani said in early Friday.

"The text that was sent (by Iran) has a constructive approach aimed at finalizing the negotiations," he added.

The official added that Iran's response was created "following evaluation on various levels."
