Syrian President Hails Iran's Support in Fight against Terrorism, Earthquake Aid
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad expressed gratitude towards Iran for its support in Syria's fight against terrorism and foreign threats, as well as for the aid it provided during the recent earthquake disaster.
During a meeting with Head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Kamal Kharrazi in Damascus, Assad discussed regional and international developments, highlighting the need for countries in the region to strengthen ties to build a defense system against hostile policies, according to SANA.
Kharrazi extended condolences to the Syrian people over the earthquake deaths and emphasized the importance of having a clear vision of the future to secure their interests in the region.
The Iranian official also met with Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad during his visit to Damascus.
